327 Unseemly

In Uncategorized on December 27, 2008 at 7:50 pm

The roommate came for most of his remaining things today. It’s been unusually warm out so I used the opportunity to hang out a load of clothes. I also talk about uncluttering my home entertainment center. But I guess the real reason for the name of this podcast is the unseemly things I did to a guy last night. He asked for it! Intro music: “I want your sex” by George Michael/Outro music: “Freedom! 90″ (remastered) by George Michael. Mic: Shure SM7B; Mixer: Mackie DFX6; Recording device: Garageband. Total running time: 32 minutes 57 seconds. (Mono). Click here to listen or right click to download this podcast.

My trip home this afternoon to be with family. Also a few more words concerning homosexuality and the church post Ongline and the Pope. I talk about older men being with younger men and while I can justify this for myself somehow I find it unacceptable for my soon-to-be divorced sister to hang out with a 27 yo guy she met at her church. What do you think? Mic: Shure SM7B; Mixer: Mackie DFX6; Recording device: Zoom H2. (Mono) Total running time: 51 minutes 13 seconds. Click here to listen or right click to download this podcast.

Homosexuality a sin?

In Uncategorized on December 24, 2008 at 4:02 pm

I found this interesting article concerning differing views held by Christians on the issue of homosexuality. I thought you’d like to read it. Go here. After having read this article over and over and the aforementioned verses of the bible; I tend to hold to the belief that the bible is anti-gay. One must remember: These words are the words of men, not God. The bad news? Try convincing mainstream Christians their holy bible isn’t what it purports to be. There are many who will never accept our way of thinking. The proof will come in the end. I contend there will be no second coming of Christ and the end will more likely come in some sort of cataclysm which will destroy humanity and the earth.

Racism is alive and well and living in the state of Alabama. Why do you think Alabama voted for McCain? The states just below the Mason-Dixon line just don’t seem to be able to turn the page on racism. Go here to look at what I found in my front lawn when I arrived home this afternoon from work. Not a burning cross; nevertheless a sign of hatred.

Ignored

In Uncategorized on October 1, 2008 at 6:37 pm

October has arrived and I’ve absolutely no downloads of my latest podcast! Don’t you guys like me anymore? Fuck it . . . I’ll keep doing this even if nobody is listening. So just answer me this one question please.

Do any of you actually subscribe to my podcast or do you just download my podcasts manually? I’d like to know.

Maybe the rapture has occurred and I’ve been . . . left behind! Or maybe everyone is just tired of listening to Nick Thomas. I’d stop doing this if I could think of something constructive to do with my time. But I like talking even if I’m not as popular as John Ong or Archer. Since I’ve never been popular (in all of my life) I should be used to it or you’d think so. But it does bother me a bit and contributes to my lack of self-worth and confidence. I guess everything I say here is really meaningless. No wonder I feel alone in this world. Steve is gone. Jeremy is gone. Nothing ever works out. A person could get a complex or something if he worried about it to much. Ha ha. I think I now know why so many turn to drugs and alcohol. But I can’t do that. I’d rather just die altogether than become a pathetic loser. Thom talks about calling 911 if your feeling suicidal. I’d like to know who to call if you’d just like to be listened to? And if they’d actually hear what your saying. When Steve and I used to talk on the phone I just felt like a big ear. He’d do all the talking and by the time he’d finish I’d be so drained I’d just want to get off the phone. And if I did have anything to say I’d never get any meaningful feedback. So how did I become such a reject? I’ve always thought there must be some meaning to everyone’s life. I’m beginning to wonder if my mom made a mistake by not aborting me. So for any of you who might enjoy the pain and suffering of others I ask you not make some sly comment about how I’m feeling sorry for myself again. I already know that. Tell me something I don’t know. I am holding on by a thread. I wear my feelings on my shoulders and that is just the way it is. There is no Jesus to rescue me from all the hell I go through living on this earth. It does no good to take a sabbatical. The day I return is the day I once again enter hell. No one covers for me at work so there is no point in taking even a short vacation. Money isn’t everything. I’d give it up for a restful mind. And to know someone out there cares about me. I really do feel sometimes like someone out there is testing me. They want to see how much I can take. It’s difficult, but I somehow hold on. Why? Because its hard to give up life. No matter how difficult things become you keep going, hoping one day things will get better. But you wonder if hope is just a cruel hoax to keep you suffering. A promise that can never be kept. Hope. Hopelessness.

Watching the debate

In Uncategorized on September 27, 2008 at 7:56 am

I was anxious as I watched last nights debate between Barack Obama and John McCain. I worried that Obama might make a mistake and hoped for one from McCain. I honestly think both men scored points. Both made hardcore supporters happy. It is independent and non-committed voters I am more concerned about.

While most post-debate polling showed Obama as the victor; I am not so quick to claim victory for my man. It really does not matter what Nick Thomas thinks. I live in a solid red state. Alabama is not going to flip for Obama. So I am more concerned about swing states and swing voters who will decide this election. It is somewhat disconcerting that I have no control over their perceptions. So I sit back waiting for the latest unbiased public opinion polls (if they exist) and worry about this countries direction. Will I continue to feel like an outsider? Or will I finally feel like I am a part of this country? Bush and his cronies have been masterful in portraying anyone not in favor of the war in Iraq as less an American or just naive. I beg to differ. I hope one day to find myself in the majority. No longer a reject, but an integral part of the country I call home.

Palin is a ding-a-ling

In Politics on September 26, 2008 at 12:58 pm

Listen to this audio clip of a portion of the Katie Couric interview of Sarah Palin. Prove me wrong when I say: “You’d have to be mentally impaired to believe Sarah Palin is capable of being the Vice President or potentially the President of the United States of America” after listening to this air-headed anwer to a very important question by Couric. Did Sarah really say that? What did she mean? Shouldn’t we expect more from a woman who could one day be the next President of the USA? Are we comfortable with the dumbing down of the Presidency? Was she the most qualified Republican woman John McCain could find? This isn’t a beauty queen we are voting for. Give me a break! How do Republicans spin this interview with Katie Couric? They cannot very well claim Couric is sexist! Maybe she’s just a part of the liberal media elite Rethugs like to claim when they are on the losing end of an argument. Facts are a stubborn thing aren’t they? It is the Republican philosophy of deregulation that got us into this financial meltdown. John McCain championed this philosophy in his 26 years in the Senate. He is a “Johnny come lately” to banking reform and regulation. Now that the sky is falling he is in a panic. Trickle down did not work and it is not clear if a bailout of Wall Street will keep us from falling off the cliff. We are in for tough times and the Republican party owns this mess. They broke it. They own it.

New old video posted

In Uncategorized on September 20, 2008 at 7:36 pm

I uploaded a new video to my Web gallery this evening. Go here to view the video. Its an old 8mm film my dad took of us playing in a rare snow in late 60’s Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The lady throwing snowballs and helping us kids build Mr. Snowman was Butch and Marty’s mom. Her name was Shelba S. I will never forget the time I was in Butch and Marty’s house and I accidentally saw her naked. It was not a pleasant sight and may have had a direct influence on (or at least cemented) my homosexuality. Ha! The quality of the video is not so good. I used an 8mm projector (I purchased on Ebay) to project the film on a wall while I steadied my digital video camera to capture the images. I’ve thought about sending all of these 8mm films off to a lab to have them transferred to digital. I may do that . . . someday. I also included a still black and white picture taken on the same day the film was shot. We’re all standing around Mr. Snowman. I am front right in the picture. My brother is standing behind me. My refugee (kidding) sister is left (rear) in the picture. Jay G., (the little boy in the pic) was an asshole and I hated him. Butch S. is in the center of the pic. I can still hear Jay crying and trying to bite me with those rotten teeth. I liked his younger brother Barry very much and never fought with him. Barry was close to my age and my first boy crush. I wonder to this day whatever happened to Barry Golden. Global warming has made snowfalls like the one in this video a thing of the past. It hardly ever snows like this anymore. Looking at this video and old pictures of myself makes me wonder what happened to make me the person that I have become. This picture was taken at a time in my life when I was becoming increasingly sad and sensitive, while the world around me was becoming harsh and cold. My only comfort during those early years was my mom. When I look back at these images I feel like I’m missing something. That some part of me was left behind. And I sometimes wish I could go back there.

Note: Now that I think about it, there is no way that little boy in the pic and the film is Jay G. I think the little boy must be Brian G. who is Jay and Barry’s youngest brother.

Muscle Shoals High School Stage Band (1976)

In Uncategorized on September 16, 2008 at 6:01 pm

Somewhere in the mix of sounds you will hear the sound of my trumpet. I never sat 1st chair first -not even close, but I loved being in the stage band. This was (to my knowledge) the first competition of the Muscle Shoals High School Stage Band which was held in Savannah, Tennessee in 1976. The Stage Band was under the direction of Mr. Charles M. Stratford. There were six trumpets in the band at the time. Doug H., Tim M., Kevin S., Wes W., John L. and me. But I’m not saying my real name here. This was one of three songs performed at the competition. A friend in the band used my cassette recorder to record the performance. The quality is bad. But I think you can see that aside for some mixing board problems, i.e., the Tenor sax solo is way to loud, everything came together quite nicely. Solo Trumpet is Doug H. Racism rears its ugly head

In Politics on September 8, 2008 at 7:00 pm

It seems racism is alive and well. Read this. It appears young Republicans learn well from their elders. A former executive director of the Pennsylvania Federation of College Republicans, wrote on his Facebook page in late July that Obama has “a pair of lips so large he could float half of Cuba to the shores of Miami (and probably would.)” The young thug apologized for the remarks after he was caught. This just goes to prove that racism is alive and well in the good ole USA. I’ll not soon forget the night I was on a gay chat service, Gay.com, in the Alabama State Room. One young gay man made the following comment: “This country is not ready for a coon to be president!” Have we learned nothing in the years since Martin Luther King, Jr. and the civil rights marches of the 60’s? Why is there such intolerance? And what does this bode for gay rights? Is the rhetoric of this campaign fueling the flames of hatred? It appears that Republicans remain bitter after the civil rights legislation of the 60’s. That was when the once solid Democrat South flipped and changed to a solid shade of red Republicans. They cannot tolerate change! It is a word that is difficult for them to utter and only came to the McCain campaign late and when all seemed lost. Now they use it in a mocking fashion against the Democrats. As if to say, we can take what is rightfully yours and pervert its meaning. The only thing more frightening than John McCain as President – is Sarah Palin as President. The Republicans at one time railed against Obama’s perceived inexperience. Now that Sarah Palin is McCain’s VP, the game has changed. Now the Republicans are all about change. In the words of John McCain: “Change is coming to Washington!” The change McCain is offering is hollow and meaningless. You see, McCain follows the doctrine of right-wing Christians. Their bible is unchanging. You cannot add to or subtract from it. To those who follow this doctrine – life begins at conception. There is no room for compromise. There is no room for change. To those who follow this doctrine – Eve was made for Adam, marriage is sacred and meant to bond one man to one woman. There is no room for compromise. There is no room for change. There is a war being waged in this country. To those who follow this doctrine. There is no room for compromise. There is no room for change.

Palin’s comments on earmarks makes her nose grow

Governor Sarah Palin likes to claim she’s a reformer, but as Governor of the state of Alaska she has racked up in the kind of pork barrel programs Senator McCain likes to rail against. Read the antidote to the Palin lies here. Obama has never denied his record. Palin just did.

According to the article: “Alaska asked this year for earmarks totaling $198 million, about $295 for every Alaska citizen. Palin has cut back on pork project requests, but under her administration, Alaska is still and by far the largest per-capita consumer of federal pet-project spending. The governor did reject plans to build the notorious “Bridge to Nowhere” after Congress had cut off its financing.”

Alaska state jet didn’t fly on eBay

From CNN Correspondent Christine Romans

Since being named as Sen. McCain’s running mate, Gov. Palin has mentioned several times that she put a government plane up for sale on EBay — including during her speech before the GOP convention.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin bolstered her fiscal-conservative credentials early in her term by putting her predecessor’s state jet up for auction online.

“That luxury jet was over the top,” she told Republican National Convention delegates when she accepted the party’s vice presidential nomination Wednesday night. “I put it on eBay.”

Since Palin was chosen as Arizona Sen. John McCain’s running mate last week, the story has become a cornerstone of the Republican effort to paint Palin as a reformer who took on her own party establishment.

“How many saw her speech a couple of nights ago? Wasn’t it fabulous?” McCain said Friday during a campaign stop in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. “You know what I enjoyed the most? She took the luxury jet that was purchased by her predecessor and sold it on eBay — and made a profit.”

But it turns out the twin-engine Westwind II was a tough sell on the Web — and the state eventually pulled it offline and sold it through an ordinary brick-and-mortar brokerage, for a loss, a spokeswoman said Friday.

“Governor Palin has been correct in saying that she put the plane on eBay,” McCain campaign spokeswoman Maria Comella told CNN. “They did end up selling it for $2.1 million. but not on eBay.”

Palin’s predecessor, Frank Murkowski, bought the jet for $2.7 million in 2005. The following year, Palin unseated Murkowski in the state’s Republican primary and became governor: Upon taking office, she wanted to unload what former aide Meg Stapleton called “a symbol of corruption.”

Stapleton told CNN that Murkowski paid too much for the jet, and that it was costing taxpayers money just sitting in the hangar.

“Eventually you had to concede and say, ‘How often are we going to pay these bills and waste more state dollars?’ ” she said.

When putting it on eBay failed, aircraft broker Rob Heckmann was called in to sell the jet. Businessman Larry Reynolds bought the five-passenger jet for sold for $2.1 million. And Reynolds is now seeking another $50,000 from the state for unexpected maintenance issues with the aircraft.

I like to think of this film as sort of the “clift notes” of the story better told by the television series. “House of Dark Shadows” condenses the story rather well. The serial is better at filling in the gaps and drawing one closer to the characters. The film version is not as sympathetic of the main character, Barnabas Collins. If after viewing these clips you find an interest in the story of Barnabas Collins and the Collins family – I recommend you rent the original television series Dvd’s beginning with Set One.

New lies from Conservatives about Barack Obama

In Uncategorized on August 14, 2008 at 5:23 pm

Conservatives are using all means at their disposal to trash Barack Obama. The truth does not matter to these people. They have one goal in mind. To see that Barack Obama is not elected president by manufacturing lies about him. Go here to read about a new anti-Obama book. Anyone who does not accept their political and religious ideology is considered un-American. Senator John McCain has also gone out of his way to distort Obama’s record and to question his character despite his promise to run a campaign free of negative ads. Witness his campaign’s Paris Hilton/Britney Spears smear television ad and his many ads questioning Barack’s qualifications to lead our country. What is it about being shot down and held a prisoner of war during the Vietnam war that qualifies McCain for the presidency? I’d worry about a man known for his short temper having his finger on the nuclear trigger. Do we really want this kind of man as commander-in-chief? I don’t. Remember when John McCain joked about bombing Iran? To the lyric’s of the old Beachboy’s song, “Barbara Ann”, McCain sung: “Bomb, bomb, bomb – bomb, bomb Iran”. Sometimes our jokes reveal a lot about what we really think. McCain will say and do anything to win the presidency. He has flip-flopped on the Bush tax cuts for the rich, immigration and torture. Now he says he may pick a VP who favors abortion rights! Why? Because the only principal John McCain will hold to is the principal of winning at any cost. This is the basic philosophy of Republicans. They are well on their way to destroying our civil liberties. The election of John McCain will seal the deal. This is why they are so desperate.

Alabama Attorney General Gay?

There is a persistent rumor going around concerning Alabama’s Attorney General, Troy King. Rumor has it that King’s wife caught her husband having sex with a man in their bedroom. Just another, “in the closet story”? Well, it must be noted that the Attorney General is a Republican who rails against homosexuality. I do not know if this is more than here-say. He has (after all) ruffled a few (gay) feathers in his short stint in public office. This kind of story does seem to plague the Republican party and those holier-than-thou people. Libsyn feed

In Uncategorized on July 10, 2008 at 5:50 pm

Hey everyone – my iTunes feed seems to be down today. Probably something to do with prep for tomorrows launch of the new iPhone and the new App Store. So for those who’d rather download from my Libsyn feed here is the url of the feed:

feed://nickthomaspodcast.libsyn.com/rss

If you use iTunes to download my podcast go to the “Advanced tab” and look for “Subscribe to podcast”. Click it and a window opens. Type in the above url and my feed will be added to iTunes. This procedure may be a little different for the Windows version of iTunes.

I’ll upload Podcast #263 “Talking down” to the .Mac feed as soon as it becomes available again. But you can get my latest podcast on Libsyn. They seem to download a bit quicker on Libsyn anyhow. Keep the cards and letters coming in. You won’t offend me if we differ in our views. That’s what makes this country the greatest country on earth. I love living in a land where we are all free to express ourselves. Maybe one day our liberties will be extended to allow for gays to marry.

UPDATE 07/12 at 7:28 AM (Central time): I managed to download and install the 2.0 software update to my iPod Touch last night after returning from the Nature trail. I’m not much of a gamer, but I think I could have a little fun with some of the games available in the new App store. Thus far I have downloaded: “Super Monkey Ball”, “MotoRacer” and ” Enigmo”. “Enigmo” is a cool game in which you use the laws of physics and gravity to manipulate water to fill jars. Each new game gets more challenging. It is way cool. I also downloaded a free utility called, “Remote” which allows you to remotely control your computers iTunes software. You can search and change tracks and control the volume.

Teen boys body found in Freezer; Two men charged

This story has gay written all over it. Or am I just to captivated by stories such as the mysterious disappearance of Jeffrey Blake Stone? His body was found in a freezer in a home near Atalla, Alabama and two men are being held in the Etowah County, Alabama jail for murder. Read the story here. I’m reminded of John Wayne Gacy, Jeffrey Damier, Dean Corll and Elmer Wayne Henley. True this is just the killing of one teen boy. But one never knows what might follow. I’ll definitely be following this grizzly story. Update: Authorities insist this murder was a thrill kill.

Brother-in-law’s threat

In Uncategorized on June 8, 2008 at 6:20 pm

I was shocked today to discover a threatening voice mail message from my brother-in-law on the cell. I hadn’t listened to the messages since the incident occurred earlier in the week. I figured my sister had left messages. I know she would not have been threatening. That’s not in her character. I’d always figured Steve (her husband) was the source of the politically and religiously conservative emails, but I’d never have figured he’d leave such a hateful voice mail. My first temptation was to delete the threatening message. Then I thought it might be wiser to save the message if I need proof of the threat later. I fear this incident is going to affect me and my family’s relationship from now on. I do regret taking the drastic action I did in replying to everyone who had received the initial email from bro-in-law. But what is done is done. It would be nice to hear what advice you might have given this situation. I will attempt to record the voice mail and will include it in Tuesday’s podcast. I don’t know how to feel about this. A mixture of sadness, regret and anger. I really do not think my brother-in-law would travel here to do me harm. But it hangs over me and I do not like nor appreciate what he is doing to my relationship with my family. I feel isolated enough as it is. No one to talk to. No one to hang out with. Alone in the world. I’m so tired of all the BS I have to contend with. It isn’t just this. It’s everything. My supposed best friend Steve (another Steve) has abandoned me. So I’m beginning to wonder if I am alone in this world because I am just not a pleasant person to be around. Maybe this is why I only seem to be able to have inconsequential relations with people. One day maybe I won’t have to worry about all this anymore. Then my sister will see that I did not do all this out of hate. That I did (what I did) because I am tired of being attacked by religious fundamentalism. I am tired of being made to feel like a freak. Of being marginalized, laughed at and scorned by a large segment of society. It isn’t any wonder that so many of us just give up. But if I do that then it is they who win. I hate this world.

A so-called Christian

In Christianity on June 1, 2008 at 3:30 pm

With all the focus on the pastor problems of Barack Obama one may be left to wonder: What about John McCain? I submit the beloved Senator from Arizona does not have a pastor problem because he does not have a pastor. John McCain has admitted he rarely attends church. Does this trouble evangelical Christians? Should it not trouble them? Or is it enough for these pious Americans that McCain panders to them? As long as McCain condemns gay marriage and supports a war against heathens from Middle Eastern countries the religious right seem content with McCain’s non-attendance. I’d like to hear more questions from the media as to WHY John McCain does not consider regular church attendance important? Is it enough just to call oneself a Christian? Or is this all mere political expediency? Say what you must say to be elected?

Birmingham Mayor Langford is a homophobe

In Gay on May 25, 2008 at 11:00 pm

Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford’s refusal to grant a permit for this years gay pride parade caused many within the gay community to question Langford’s promise to be mayor of all the people. What made this refusal even more stunning is the fact that Mayor Langford is a black man. One would figure that being black in the south would engender a sense of kinship with the gay community; both being subject to hatred and intolerance.

But it wasn’t just the mayor’s refusal to sign a proclamation for the annual Pride event that surprised gays and their friends. The mayor also refused to allow banners promoting the event on city property and refused to issue a parade permit. In explaining his refusal Langford stated that it was inappropriate for the local government to condone a lifestyle! “My policy is don’t ask because it’s not my business, and don’t put me in the position to make it my business,” Langford said. “I don’t condone it, but I also am not sitting in judgment of anyone.”

Mayor Langford is under investigation by the SEC for accepting more than $156,000 in cash and benefits in exchange for Jefferson County bond business. The SEC investigation into Jefferson County bond swaps is an ongoing probe by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) into possible improprieties during a series of complex financial transactions undertaken by Jefferson County while Larry Langford was President of the County Commission and Chair of its Finance Committee. The SEC began its investigation in 2004.

This underscores a fact that some within the gay community seem quick to forget. Being black is no barometer for empathy.

Many within the black community are strongly attached to their faith. And even predominately Black Christian churches teach a social intolerance toward homosexual behavior. It is that dirty little secret that won’t go away. The one that many like to deny. The belief that God condemns the homosexual lifestyle. That belief is founded in the teachings of the Holy bible and it’s effect mutes any sense of tolerance. This is what drives black men like Mayor Langford to reject the idea that we are all equal under the law. Because in the eyes of those thus indoctrinated – the gay community lives outside the laws of God. And any religious man will tell you that God’s laws reign supreme.

For all the steps forward we have seen little progress in our tepid attempt to achieve equality under the law. Until the gay community addresses the issue of religious bigotry head-on we will never achieve that which our founding fathers promised so long ago: Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Without it we are not a free people. We are today’s second class citizens held hostage by religious persecutors.

Hillary wins Pennsylvania. So what!

In Politics on April 22, 2008 at 7:58 pm

Hillary and her campaign argues that Hillary’s wins in the big states shows that she should be the nominee of the party. What? Does anyone seriously believe Barack Obama (should he be the eventual nominee) cannot win New York, Pennsylvania, and California? Barack is playing it smart. He does not wish to alienate Clinton supporters. So he has refrained from going (to) negative on Hillary despite her playing the fear card against Obama. He wants Hillary’s supporters to become Barack votes in the November election. Let’s face it. This win by Hillary was a foregone conclusion. Despite her time as New York Senator and first lady to a popular Democrat President Bill Clinton, she has been unable to close the deal! Barack Obama has won more states; won more of the popular vote and won more delegates. All this from a one term Black Senator from the state of Illinois who most did not know prior to this campaign! Barack has energized the electorate and brought new people into the Democrat party. Don’t worry about Barack’s electability. If he can do this to Hillary Clinton; just think of what he can do to Republican Senator John McCain.

Hillary acknowledges Barack is electable!

In Politics on April 17, 2008 at 3:19 am

Despite her relentless attacks against Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton admitted in Wednesday nights debate Barack Obama is electable. Is he electable? ”Yes, yes, yes,” she said when pressed about Obama’s electability during a campaign debate six days before the Pennsylvania primary. In a new poll released this week the majority find Hillary untrustworthy. The results of this poll may be the result of Hillary’s campaign continuing to go negative by launching attack ads against Obama. Many of the new ads concern Obama’s recent “bitter” remarks and Clinton’s belief that people do not cling to their faith in troubled times. My take? If Hillary had clung to her husband during his Presidency, perhaps Bill would not have turned to Monica! Then the Clinton legacy would be untainted and there may have never been a Geo W. Bush presidency. The relentless pursuit of this nomination by Hillary is an attempt to amend the Clinton record. But in her attempt to make it right she is bludgeoning Obama and thereby making it ever more likely the Republicans will hold on to the presidency. Given the chance to attack Hillary in last night’s debate over her Bosnian slip, Barack passed. While Hillary and her campaign play dirty rotten politics – Barack makes nice. They say nice guys finish last. Thus far Barack has managed to win more states, collect more delegates and win a majority of the popular vote. Soon we will know if nasty trumps nice.

Obama “bitter” remarks

In Obama on April 11, 2008 at 8:57 pm

This is exactly why I’m voting for Barack Obama. He speaks the truth. And then his words are distorted by typical politicians like Hillary Clinton. I have said in the past that I would likely vote for Hillary if she should win the Democrat party nomination for President. Now I will NEVER vote for her. This did it for me. Hillary deliberately distorts Obama’s remarks. She knows she’s lying and she does not care because she feels entitled to the Presidency. She is a liar and would do and say anything to get elected. I voted for Bill Clinton and every other Democrat. But I will not vote for Hillary. Listen to Barack Obama defend himself and his remarks concerning the bitterness felt by the people of Pennsylvania and decide for yourself. Go here to listen to Obama.

Craigslist post

In Uncategorized on April 10, 2008 at 4:40 am

The following post appears in today’s Alabama Men for men:

“Dear God.
Help me find out what is causing the temptations to be with men.
Take me as I am,I give my all to you. Wash me and save me. Thank You, Now I have peace.
In Jesus Name , AMEN”

Hey man, Nick Thomas talked to God and God says the reason you have temptations to be with men is because “You’re Gay” for God’s sake. Don’t worry about it. Seriously, its sad that we live in a time when ppl are struggling with their sexuality. In the animal kingdom homosexuality is no big deal. And long term relationships (while they do exist) aren’t the rule. Thus, it isn’t uncommon to find animals with multiple sex partners. So I guess it could be said that we’re acting like animals if we are following our natural instincts. In an effort to control those animal instincts man tried to reinvent himself. Thus the creation of a God. So what is a God without rules to live by? Thus the creation of God’s laws. All of this was an effort to control you. What better way to control the natural instincts of man than to create a supreme being, with supreme laws and an eternal judgment if those laws are transgressed. So maybe you first heard about burning in hell from your mother or your dad or the preacher at your local church. So is all of this really God’s law? Or man’s? The burden is left on your shoulders to decide. Get it wrong and nothing may happen in the end. Get it right and you can have a Gay Ole Time.

Hillary plays the “FEAR” card.

In Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton on March 6, 2008 at 4:38 pm

Senator Hillary Clinton is so desperate to become the Democrat nominee for President that she has taken a play out of the Karl Rove playbook and used the “fear” card. Clinton suggests that a Barack Obama presidency would endanger the lives of every American. In the lowest of lows Clinton’s campaign launched a television commercial showing a young child safely sleeping in bed at home while a male voice asks: If a crisis occurred somewhere in the world and the phone at the Whitehouse rang: Who would you want to answer the phone? The implication being that Obama lacks the experience to be President. In the commercial, Hillary is seen answering the phone at 3 a.m. in her pantsuit and reading glasses with the look of a strong confident leader. I suppose the implication is that Obama would be pissing in his pajamas? This would be funny were it not for the fact that Hillary is handing John McCain the key to victory by making a case against Senator Obama. This tactic would be expected of McCain’s camp; for a Democrat to play the fear card at this late date against a fellow Democrat in the campaign is detestable. I highly resent Clinton using this Karl Rove tactic. We’ve had to put up with Geo W playing the FEAR card for seven long years. I am sick of it. All of this puts Obama in an awkward place since he has attempted to run a campaign respectful of his opponents. Clinton apparently feels she is somehow entitled to the presidency and sees it slipping away. This is her last chance and she will do any and everything to win. This is not the kitchen sink strategy. Obama must frame what Clinton is trying to do to him properly and in a way that every Democrat would understand and resent. This is a Karl Rove tactic. Clinton is playing the FEAR card. And it is ironic that her tactic will be used by John McCain against her should she become the eventual nominee. I have therefore made the following decision. Should Hillary become the nominee of our party; I will vote for her ONLY if Barack is on the ticket. If he is not or is asked and chooses not to accept; then I will not vote in this election as a protest. I am disgusted by all of this. I’ve been a loyal Democrat all of my adult life. I voted for Bill Clinton and every Democrat since. I would have freely voted for Hillary. That was what I said I would do should she win the nomination. That was then. Now she has resorted to the kind of campaign tactics that I despise. We need a change. Barack Obama is the only way to break from the politics of old.

Hate

In Uncategorized on February 25, 2008 at 2:17 pm

Fifteen year old Lawrence King was not a typical teen boy. Lawrence was openly gay and according to classmates in Oxnard, California, he sometimes wore makeup, high heels and other feminine attire to school. He would come to school wearing makeup and high heels, according to a male classmate. Another classmate said Lawrence’s appearance was “freaking the guys out”.

One recent morning Lawrence was shot in the head during a class in his school’s computer lab. Lawrence was raced to a local hospital where he was declared “brain dead”. The fourteen year old boy who shot Lawrence is being charged as an adult and will likely face hate crimes charges. The question? Why do things like this happen? The answer?

Perhaps Lawrence’s foster parents did not consider his behavior to be a threat to others. During these early years of adolescence young boys are taught what is acceptable male behavior. What is acceptable in one family may be seen as shameful and unacceptable in another.

Lawrence’s attacker was allegedly the subject of Lawrence’s adoration. A recipe for a tragic outcome. One boy taught from an early age that a boy should like girls. Another sit free to discover his own feelings.

I can remember as a boy the shame of being gay. I hid that fact from all around me as best I could. In some ways I have to admire Lawrence for not bowing to shame. It would be nice to think that we live in a world where we all can feel free to openly acknowledge our gayness. Lawrence did and he paid the ultimate price. This is not the way it is supposed to be. But it is the way of this world. Gays challenge the definition of what it means to be male. And that challenge frightens many who look upon male homosexuality as a weakness.

Is it any wonder why there is such fear of male homosexuality in this world? When the majority are of the opinion that homosexuality goes against the natural laws of God. Is it any wonder that Lawrence’s attacker looked upon Lawrence with hate? A hate bred into him by an intolerant world of ignorant people. A hate that made it easy to put a gun to Lawrence’s head and pull the trigger. Lawrence’s young short life is over. There are other young men out there like Lawrence who just want to be free to be themselves. How many more will die before we learn to respect the precious nature of life?

201 Running on empty

In Uncategorized on February 12, 2008 at 1:27 am

As I’m sitting here this Monday night once again I wonder if the pain in my left arm is the result of the torn ligament in my shoulder or a forewarning of a diseased heart. As I down two more aspirin I wonder. Why do I bother? Could it be that despite my sad pathetic existence and my reluctant participation in this life that I continue to have hope? Why do I delude myself into believing in better days? My life would be totally empty were it not for you. Those few people who listen to me here. Who have become like a partner in marriage – for better or for worse. I feel as if I am running on empty. That each new day is harder than the last. I worry about one solitary person on this earth who has affected me more than any other. But I feel helpless to help him. I don’t care about myself. I don’t know if I ever did. Perhaps that is why I am at this point in my life. An empty person who only exists because I know nothing else. If this is all there is to life then why was I brought here? If there really was a God surely he’d find it in his heart to show mercy and let me go. Instead he continues to complicate my life and force me to continue on and on and on. I am tired. I want to rest. My mind and my body aches. This isn’t the way it was supposed to be. Total running time: 24 minutes 24 seconds (Stereo) MP3. 188 The Obama Wave

In Barack Obama, Gay, Liberal, Obama, Sex on January 8, 2008 at 12:27 pm

The Obama wave and why I’m riding it. It takes an effective messenger to deliver the message. Barack Obama is that messenger. Edwards and Clinton have had their chance. The country is looking for someone new and something fresh to believe in. This is why I’m riding the Obama wave. I may be disappointed in the end, but at the moment I’ve something to hold onto. A hope that I can feel apart of this world again. That I can feel good about life. Total running time: 52 minutes 14 seconds (Stereo) MP3.
