Phew, that’s better …… a podcast and I can comment on it ….it was a close thing for a while, I had to resort to blogging about my apartment block. Tedious topic or what.
Right – Slow Drivers: Florida specializes in little old ladies with blue rinsed hair, verrrrryy slowwwwly driving huge elderly Cadillacs, & Lincoln Town Cars, & Grand Marquis & such (which they’ve had from new); they potter along at 10 m.p.h. sitting on a heap of cushions ‘cuz they’re too tiny to see over the wheel which is clutched fiercely in their claw-like, withered, hands. The turn signal blinks constantly – either left or right, it doesn’t matter – and it bears no relation to the direction they eventually veer off into. Bless them. Your heart must have sunk when you got stuck behind the Alabama version of one of these. Trouble is the frustration makes the desire to overtake ‘em overide your natural caution and ya end up taking chances & making rash driving manoeuvres.
I drive to/from work and daily have three temper tantrums on the way home. Other drivers cutting forceably into the line of traffic I’ve been patiently waiting in on the Canning Town Overpass jam. Drivers suddenly stopping in front because they want to cut into the line of traffic on my left which is queueing up for the Blackwall Tunnel under the Thames river, when I’m in the lane for the thru traffic. Then finally just before the turn off into my neighbourhood there are a group of Romanian gypsies hanging around a set of stop signals – they descend on the cars when the lights are red and slop a dirty wet rag over your windshield then demand money for supposedly washing it for you. Bastards, when you naturally tell ‘em to fuck off, they get abusive & aggressive.
But if you really want to hear somebody with serious anger management issues in his dealings with other road users then listen to Riding With Bill in his podcasts as he drives around Orlando. His pet hate is people who are slow to move off when the lights turn green & make him miss the signal. Actually he pretty much gets furious with everybody sharing the same road as he’s on.
