Mark interviews me

In Uncategorized on June 29, 2008 at 12:42 pm

For those who may be inclined, Mark in Canada interviewed me for this podcast, “Musings of a tech writer”. While Mark made me feel comfortable, I hate giving interviews so this might be the last one I do. Okay Mark . . . you asked. I never ducked any of Mark’s questions. So if you’re interested, check it out by clicking here.

Contribute to Bob Barr?

In Uncategorized on June 22, 2008 at 12:52 pm

I’m urging all of my liberal friends and listeners to contribute to the campaign of Bob Barr, Libertarian Party Presidential candidate. Bob Barr represented the 7th Congressional district of Georgia in the U.S. House from 1995 to 2003. Why help Barr? It’s really very simple. Bob Barr has the potential of drawing enough votes from McCain (not only in the state of Georgia) but many other swing states in the November election. The result? Insuring a victory for Obama! Go here to contribute to the Barr for President campaign. Just call this Nick Thomas mischievous making.

254 Rush

In Uncategorized on June 20, 2008 at 5:48 pm

I talk about my new microphone and thank Mark in Canada for inspiring me to spend more money on a new toy. I also offer up my take on Obama’s decision to forego public funding of his presidential campaign. Good for you Barack Obama! Finally a Democrat who really wants to be President. I talk of the Pheonix mission to mars and the discovery of ice on the Red planet. How cool is that? What NTP would be complete without a little talk about the nature trail. How it differs from his home state of Texas. What guys are like in Australia? Sex? Who inspired Ben to podcast? 250 Lost Love

In Gay, Love on June 12, 2008 at 2:46 pm

I talk about my Ex-lover. Ron and I were lovers for four years the first time I lived in Birmingham. Ron caught me screwing around on him. The relationship ended. This was the worst mistake of my life. I know he really loved me. So I was thinking of Ron today. And I had this compulsion to see if I could locate him again. It would be nice to talk to him. To know that he is well. Total running time: 17 minutes 34 seconds (Stereo) MP3. Mic: Shure SM7B; Preamp: Presonus TubePre; Recording device: Garageband. 249 Good, bad and ugly

In Apple computer on June 10, 2008 at 11:55 am

I talk a little about Apple’s new iPhone. Do I want one? Listen and find out. (Note: Since recording this podcast I have learned from another source that the rate plan will actually be more expensive than I recited in this podcast. I guess that’ll kill any thoughts of buying an iPhone.) During the second half of this podcast I play my brother-in-law’s threatening voice mail and explain my side of this story. Total running time: 31 minutes 04 seconds (Stereo) MP3. Click here to listen or right click here to download this podcast.

Brother-in-law’s threat

In Uncategorized on June 8, 2008 at 6:20 pm

I was shocked today to discover a threatening voice mail message from my brother-in-law on the cell. I hadn’t listened to the messages since the incident occurred earlier in the week. I figured my sister had left messages. I know she would not have been threatening. That’s not in her character. I’d always figured Steve (her husband) was the source of the politically and religiously conservative emails, but I’d never have figured he’d leave such a hateful voice mail. My first temptation was to delete the threatening message. Then I thought it might be wiser to save the message if I need proof of the threat later. I fear this incident is going to affect me and my family’s relationship from now on. I do regret taking the drastic action I did in replying to everyone who had received the initial email from bro-in-law. But what is done is done. It would be nice to hear what advice you might have given this situation. I will attempt to record the voice mail and will include it in Tuesday’s podcast. I don’t know how to feel about this. A mixture of sadness, regret and anger. I really do not think my brother-in-law would travel here to do me harm. But it hangs over me and I do not like nor appreciate what he is doing to my relationship with my family. I feel isolated enough as it is. No one to talk to. No one to hang out with. Alone in the world. I’m so tired of all the BS I have to contend with. It isn’t just this. It’s everything. My supposed best friend Steve (another Steve) has abandoned me. So I’m beginning to wonder if I am alone in this world because I am just not a pleasant person to be around. Maybe this is why I only seem to be able to have inconsequential relations with people. One day maybe I won’t have to worry about all this anymore. Then my sister will see that I did not do all this out of hate. That I did (what I did) because I am tired of being attacked by religious fundamentalism. I am tired of being made to feel like a freak. Of being marginalized, laughed at and scorned by a large segment of society. It isn’t any wonder that so many of us just give up. But if I do that then it is they who win. I hate this world.

246 Brainwashed?

In Christianity on June 3, 2008 at 2:42 pm

The brother-in-law is at it again. This time I received a link to an anti-Obama site. I am so tired of bro sending out this shit to me such that I sent a reply to everyone who received this email. Maybe this will finally put an end to this. So I ask my listeners to ponder my questions and get back to me. Total running time: 22 minutes 10 seconds (Stereo) MP3. This is the link my bro-in-law sent:

A so-called Christian

In Christianity on June 1, 2008 at 3:30 pm

With all the focus on the pastor problems of Barack Obama one may be left to wonder: What about John McCain? I submit the beloved Senator from Arizona does not have a pastor problem because he does not have a pastor. John McCain has admitted he rarely attends church. Does this trouble evangelical Christians? Should it not trouble them? Or is it enough for these pious Americans that McCain panders to them? As long as McCain condemns gay marriage and supports a war against heathens from Middle Eastern countries the religious right seem content with McCain’s non-attendance. I’d like to hear more questions from the media as to WHY John McCain does not consider regular church attendance important? Is it enough just to call oneself a Christian? Or is this all mere political expediency? Say what you must say to be elected?
