That roommate of yours sounds like a professional mooch to me. He could easily pay the rent just by working a couple nights a week delivering pizzas. Oh wait, he’s got a crappy car, maybe you need to get him a bicycle. If I were you and he didn’t pay in full by your deadline of November, I’d show him the walking papers. And not by December 31st. I’d give him 3 days, kick his ass out, then change the locks. Hope it all works out though, it’s nice to have the company of a roommate sometimes.
Sorry things aren’t working out. I’ve known so many young gay guys like your roommate who can’t pull it together financially and burn one person after another. You’re being much more patient with him than I would be. Even if he paid the rent on time, I have to wonder if the $350 a month is worth the trouble.
Hmmm….Shoneys breakfast buffet……can’t say that we’ve eaten at one yet. Are they in Florida – don’t recollect ever seeing them.
The roommate has either to shape up & pay up on time & in full, or he gets the boot. This is no way to go on, Nick. – he’d never get away with this behaviour with a commercial landlord. Nope, kick his ass outta there ….. as Mark says, is it worth all this hassle.
I think it was straight talking/plain speaking ‘Gives A Damn’ who said that comment about you never seeing any money after you’d had sex with the roommate and I guess in a way he was right. But I suspect the roommate never had any intention of paying up in full right from the getgo.
I don’t think the roommate has any evil intent – he just sounds young and irresponsible to me. I agree with your idea to get FULL payment during the month, or he gets the boot. Good Luck Nick!
Nick,
You didn’t piss me off and I am still a listener. I haven’t missed one single show of yours. You gotta get that your listeners care about you, worry about you, and some even LOVE YOU!
One things for sure and that is that we ALL are concerned on some level regarding this roommate situation. I haven’t listened to “emotional baggage” yet but I read the comments and something about a cat? The roommate wants to get a cat? I should listen first but I won’t be able to comment til tomorrow sometime. So if that’s whats going on…. PLEASE do not get any pets until he moves out or starts living up to his obligations. A pet could just be a way to calm the situation down and saddle you with some sort of tie to him emotionally and there’s nothing like a kitten or cat to create a month long diversion.
Question: He knows you have a podcast but would he be able to find it? does he know your name etc….Unless your name is COMPLETELY different than NICK THOMAS I would bet you he is already listening to it… and using it. I hope I’m wrong but if I’m not…
Hey roommate. KNOCK THAT SHIT OFF!
