Unfortunately, I think a lot of straight guys still try to bond with each other by reassuring each other that they’re not gay and by joking about gay life. I think that’s what happened in the interview.
I liked your thoughts about the Balloon Boy story. You’re right that it doesn’t help anyone to try to destroy this wacky family. Obviously, it was a hoax and that’s not a good thing. But some perspective is called for. Too often, the public calls for blood and the authorities willingly oblige.
Tammy Faye said that if the government doesn’t like you and they want to destroy you, they’ll find a way and there’s nothing you can do about it. True.
