House cleaning

In Uncategorized on November 10, 2009 at 8:50 pm

I’m off tomorrow (Wednesday) for the Veteran’s day holiday so I stayed up later than usual tonight and did some cleaning of my video gallery page. Now you may view most of my video’s on your mobile devices., i.e., iPhone. Before tonight they just would not play on my iPhone. A few files still refuse to cooperate. I’ll work on those later. I also deleted several files from the video gallery to make way for larger files. Check out my video gallery on your iPhone by going here or your web browser by going here.

NOTE: Teen Sissy Slaveboy seems to be quite popular with many of my internet visitors. The URL has changed. Go here to view the newly edited file or here to view a version with background music by Depeche Mode. Now you may download this video by clicking the download icon on the files page.

Note: I consider this another stinker. I should have more clearly explained why I sympathize with the monsters v. humans carrying torches and pitchforks. Society makes people like us gays into monsters i.e., to be feared. Much like the church which looks upon homosexuality as an abomination. To them we are the physical representation of evil. To be hunted down and destroyed.

Though I don’t own a dog, one of my favorite shows is National Geographic Channels, “The Dog Whisperer”. This past weekend I caught an episode of the Dog Whisperer featuring boyfriends, Nelson and Jhett who are the proud owners of Paris, a temperamental long-haired chihuahua who snaps at her admirers and who’d rather lead than follow. Nelson bought Paris when he was single. Now Nelson and Jhett share a place together with Paris. They hope Cesar Milan can make Paris realize who is the real leader of the pack.

WTF with Marc Maron

In Uncategorized on September 2, 2009 at 3:48 pm

New comedy podcast. I first heard of Marc Maron during those dark first days of the George W. Bush Administration. Marc was employed by Air America Radio on a early, early morning show called Morning Sedition. That was when Air America had shows worth listening to. There was an instant connection with him and his social and political philosophy. We connected. At some point the corporatists made a decision to cancel “Morning Sedition” and replace it with some lame unmemorable goofus. That’s when Air America lost its way. They gave Marc a short stint as the host of another show, but it wasn’t long before they pulled the plug again. Bummer! A long time passed before Marc was given another opportunity to return to Air America to do a streaming video show with Sam Seder called Breakroom live. It didn’t last long either. So today I was pleased to find an email from Marc Maron announcing he would be producing a podcast aptly named, “WTF with Marc Maron”. If you like laughing, you’ll bust a gut in the first episode of Marc’s new show. I’m not going to give any of it away. But if you like comedy and political satire you’ll love this no hold’s barred podcast. Go here to subscribe in iTunes. Or here to Marc’s libsyn page.

The Lark Ascending

In Uncategorized on August 30, 2009 at 10:11 am

Another of my most favorite classical pieces was written by Vaughan Williams in 1914. It is entitled, “The Lark Ascending”.

“The Lark Ascending” takes its title from a poem by George Meredith. This work was written for Violin and Orchestra. This “You Tube” video is divided into two parts. Barry Wordsworth conducts the BBC Concert Orchestra with Janine Jansen on Violin. This recording is available on iTunes and you can buy it by clicking here. Or go here to view the You Tube videos.

You may also like Symphony No. 6 in E Minor by Vaughan Williams. I consider this to be among the best of (Ralph) Vaughan Williams Symphonies. Go here to view Part One of Three “You Tube” videos. Be sure to watch the video’s in HQ version so you’ll hear them in stereo.

It hurts

In Uncategorized on August 24, 2009 at 5:16 pm

Every time I go to my dental hygienist I’m asked if my gold filled back tooth (which is chipped) is hurting me. Such was the case on Thursday afternoon when I had my most recent cleaning. My hygienist is a nice lady and we have an ongoing joke about my hatred of flossing. She once asked, “Do you floss?” To which I responded: “Do you want me to tell you the truth or lie to you?” I told her that’s why I come to see her since I’m so inept at taking care of my teeth. So every time she sees me she laughs. She’s a cut up. I like her a lot. She’s never one to ask to many probing questions, but she’s got to wonder about me. I think she’d be cool with whatever I told her. She once told me her 16 year old boy just wants to smoke pot. I told her I’d smoked pot before to which she exclaimed: “So did I, but it wasn’t the only thing I wanted to do,” as she pointed to a picture of her son on her cubicle wall. But I digress. So Thursday when I went in once again I was asked about my tooth. It wasn’t hurting then, but when I woke on Sunday morning it was. And I don’t know whither the toothache led to a fever that developed later that day. Suffice to say. I went to bed at 5:30 P.M. yesterday evening and woke around 3 A.M. on Monday morning to a lingering fever. I decided it wasn’t worth risking a 2 hour drive south in my condition. So I opted to stay home, nurse myself as best I could and hope the fever would break before the end of the day. As of this writing I am okay in regards my fever, but I opted to call my dentist about the toothache. I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon at 3:15 P.M. I’m resigned to loosing the tooth tomorrow. I don’t like knowing this, but its probably the only thing to do. I wonder about that gold filling. Should I just give it up? It it really worth anything? Should I really be concerned about something this trivial?

In other news, I’ve noticed the bickering between Paul and Zac concerning whether or not Adolph Hitler was a meat eater or a vegetarian. I think the argument was more a misunderstanding and has of their last posts been resolved. If you’re wondering? Hitler was a meat eater! Does that make all us meat eaters bad? I don’t think so. And I think Zac would agree. Stay tuned boys. Paul and Michael from London will arrive in Pelham Alabama in time for my 400th podcast! How cool is that?

Tropical Storm Claudette Heading Our Way

In Uncategorized on August 16, 2009 at 4:36 pm

Tropical Storm Claudette is on a path that will take it just west of Birmingham which means we’ll be in the path of the heaviest rainfall during the day tomorrow. So this means I’ll be driving in the rain tomorrow as I head down Hwy 280E to Opelika. Gee, I’m so looking forward to that! Go here to see the Birmingham Radar and watch as the rain moves into the Birmingham area. FYI. I didn’t go out last night. I guess my thirst was quenched the night before.

I called Jeremy’s Aunt Joyce yesterday afternoon. She told me that Jeremy is bloated all over this body including his face as a reaction to medication he is taking. The doctors are trying to find the proper medication and the proper dosages. I know Jeremy must be disappointed with all this as he’d planned on returning here this August. I worry so much about him that he’ll give up hope. I don’t think Jeremy is the type guy who’d survive in a cage. Sometimes I think his parents just want to keep him there for their own self interests. I know they love their son. But his mom also has a love for money. And I’m suspicious of her motives. I recognize my inability to exercise my wishes on any of this. I just want Jeremy to be happy. And I don’t think he’ll ever be happy living with his mom. She’s not going to be there for him forever. I worry what will happen to him when she and his father are no longer alive to look out for him. All I can hope for is that one day he will be well and able to live on his own again. Independent of his parents and of me.

Republican Hypocrisy on end-of-life counseling

In Uncategorized on August 14, 2009 at 10:07 pm

WASHINGTON – Until last week, Republican Sen. Johnny Isakson was among the most enthusiastic backers of end-of-life counseling in government health care programs like Medicare.

That was before conservatives called it a step toward euthanasia and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin likened the idea to a bureaucratic “death panel” that would decide whether sick people get to live. And even though those claims have been widely discredited, the issue remains a political weapon in the increasingly bitter health care debate.

Now, Isakson and other Republicans who eagerly backed the idea are distancing themselves from it or lying low in the face of a backlash from the right.

“Until last week this was basically a nonpartisan issue,” said John Rother, executive vice president for policy at AARP, the seniors lobbying group. “People across the political spectrum recognize that far too often people’s wishes aren’t respected at the end of life and there is a lot of unnecessary suffering.”

American Psychological Assoc., repudiates reparative therapy

In Uncategorized on August 5, 2009 at 5:05 pm

NEW YORK – The American Psychological Association declared Wednesday that mental health professionals should not tell gay clients they can become straight through therapy or other treatments.

Instead, the APA urged therapists to consider multiple options — that could range from celibacy to switching churches — for helping clients whose sexual orientation and religious faith conflict.

In a resolution adopted on a 125-to-4 vote by the APA’s governing council, and in a comprehensive report based on two years of research, the 150,000-member association put itself firmly on record in opposition of so-called “reparative therapy” which seeks to change sexual orientation.

Young gays killed in Israel

In Uncategorized on August 1, 2009 at 5:23 pm

August 1, 2009. The black-clad gunman unloaded an automatic weapon on the young group of gays and lesbians at the entrance to the club in the heart of Israel’s beachside commercial capital late Saturday, and then ran away, witnesses said.

A young man and a young woman were killed on the spot and three people suffered serious wounds, emergency services said.

Thousands of people gathered in the city centre overnight to denounce the attack.

“Our (gay) community won’t let itself be frightened, it will stand up to those who threaten it with heads held high and with pride, we will respond to war with war,” left-wing opposition Meretz party MP Nitzan Horowitz said. Read the rest of this entry »

It concerns the story of Barnabas Collins, who is played by Jonathan Frid, both in the Television Serial and in the Film. Barnabas, a vampire, is unwittingly released by a caretaker, Willie Lumas, from a chained coffin sealed by Barnabas’ father in 18th century Collinwood. Read the rest of this entry »

Go here to view two new video’s I uploaded this weekend to my gallery. Both were shot with my iPhone’s camera. The first is a tour of Birmingham’s Southside “Highland Avenue South” area. I show you the apartment’s I lived in when I first moved to the “Ham” in the early 1980’s (right after graduating from the University of North Alabama) with my lover (you heard me) my lover Rick. We lived together one year in Florence, then moved to Birmingham. Our relationship was more like an ongoing boxing match than a love affair. It ended after two years. For the first time, I would become independent of anyone. It would be sink or swim time for me. I moved into a one room efficiency (just down from where Rick and I had lived together) near Rushton Park. Read the rest of this entry »

iPhone 3GS lust

In Uncategorized on June 20, 2009 at 5:16 pm

I’ve always had my eye on the iPhone. The temptation to own one has always been tempered by the fact that I really hate to talk on the phone. Were it not for company business I’d have little use for one. Given that my company provides for a cellphone and pays the monthly fees it seems rather stupid to go out and purchase one on my own. I’ve had the same company cell phone (an old Motorola) for years. Do they even make Motorola cell phones anymore?

This evening I called my lady boss and asked her if I were to pay for the phone could we add it to the company account. She said: “Sure!” We had talked about upgrading my old Motorola awhile back but nothing ever came of it. But this time my boss says she needs a phone to and she might as well get this one. So Monday morning my boss is going to talk to A T & T about getting new iPhones. I made certain she understood I want the new 3GS iPhone – knowing with my luck she might put a 3G in my box some morning and I wouldn’t be happy about that. So if everything works out I should be (in the not to distant future) the sorta, kinda owner of a brand new iPhone 3GS.

Censorship is alive and well on Grindr

In Uncategorized on June 11, 2009 at 1:43 pm

Here is the pic I had posted on Grindr up until this afternoon when I received a notice from Grindr that my profile pic had been deleted for violation of their “Terms of Service”. Take a look at this pic:
164After the deletion I posted a revised pic taken the same day as the first. Picture 162The only difference is I’m not holding up my tee shirt. For those of you who use Grindr this all has to seem laughable since my original Grindr pic is no where near as revealing as pix by other Grindr users which still remain on the service. On my reposted profile I added the following headline: “Censorship is alive and well on Grindr.” And added the following text to my about me, it reads: “How idiotic is this? Grindr sends me a message saying they have removed my profile pic which is a non-nude of me in boxers n a tee.” I called Grindr and left two messages threatening legal action if this service did not delete other more revealing pix from their service. If they are going to make such a BIG issue of my tame pic of me revealing my tummy then they should practice the same censorship against others who are seen wearing tight underwear and no shirts! Mind you, I do not find any of these other guys images offensive and cannot believe that Grindr is making an issue of my pic.

UPDATE: Since this post Grindr announced that its censors had mistakenly deleted content that was not objectional. I reposted my original pic and there it remains to this day. Grindr is still having issues with connectivity.

370 Clash

In Uncategorized on May 24, 2009 at 7:29 am

Needless to say I was more than a little surprised by Paul’s reaction and negative comment regarding this podcast. If there is one person who’s opinion I value it is Paul’s. I re-listened to what I’d recorded. I can’t say here that my opinion in regard to monogamous coupling has changed. I didn’t mean for my words to be an insult to any couple out there who is happy in their relationship. I’ve been around for quite some time. Longer than I like to think. I’ve known far more gay men who are single than coupled. And many who I’ve known (who do have a lover) are involved in open relationships. I wasn’t condemning monogamy. I was stating my belief that I consider monogamy to be out of the norm. Perhaps to put it more precise I’d say I consider monogamy to be out of the norm in the gay community and a sneaking suspicion that such is the case for the straight community as well. That is my observation. Maybe I’m wrong. But from what I’ve observed in all my years that is what I’ve come to believe. I apologize to Paul and his lover, Michael and any of my listeners who were offended by my remarks in this podcast. I’m not trained in sociology or human sexuality, thus my observations are made from my personal experience. I am shellshocked by the reaction to my words. I don’t know how to mend the hurt feelings my words have caused. I never intended such. As per your request I have reposted this podcast. Tim, a non-sexual gay male friend and myself took a holiday weekend trip to catch some rays and some boys. I don’t remember doing to well in catching boys, but I did end up with a killer tan. Tim had never been to a gay beach before and was naturally excited at being surrounded by all the male flesh. You have to remember. This was present day at the time of filming. Young boy bullied to death

In Uncategorized on April 19, 2009 at 4:35 am

He was called flamboyant. He was called a fag. He was an 11 year old boy who attended New Leadership Charter School in Springfield, Massachusetts, a sixth grader who wanted one day to be President. On Monday, April 6, 2009, young Carl tied an extension cord around his neck and hung himself. He had been taunted and picked on unmercifully. His mother had made repeated calls to the school about the bullying. But it continued. Now Carl is at peace.

Some students at the school had made Carl a target, calling him “gay”, making fun of how he dressed and threatening him. My opinion? The Principal of New Leadership Charter School ought call an assembly of the students and publicly tell those who bullied Carl that they are guilty for Carl’s death. But that will never happen. He would never speak aloud what we know to be true.

This happens to often in our schools. Parents do not teach their children to be tolerant. Some even teach (by their actions) intolerance and hatred. Young boys are a frequent target for such abuse. Carl would have turned 12 on April 17. A vigil was held at his school in his memory. A boy who lost his place in life because he was different. Read about the story here and Google: Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover for more information about this story.

Paul in London has said he’ll send in a pic this weekend, but I suspect Paul was one of the few listener’s who considered my feet pretty. I don’t know this for certain, but I figure. Go figure! N e way, so you guys need to put your feet where your vote is. Let us see you’re pretty feet or I’ll just figure you haven’t got such pretty feet after all. LOL :) Feet is a fetish for me. I’d do anything to pretty feet. So once again I ask all who think their feet are prettier than mine to send in a pic. We’ll let the people decide just who really does have the prettiest feet. Otherwise your vote is meaningless.

So he promises it’ll be installed tomorrow afternoon. I did get a few things done today. I washed some cloths as it was finally a nice sunny afternoon. So I made use of my umbrella clothes line to dry with the heat of the sun. And I also washed my filthy car. It looks pretty now. Armor All makes the tires look nice and shiny. I found an interesting forum on my hometown newspapers page. It should shed a little light on “Queer” park in Florence and the way straight people perceive gays. Go here to visit the forum page. The forum mentions two parks in Florence. Wilson Park in downtown Florence and McFarland Park near the Tennessee River. I totally understand parents not wishing to expose their children to the true ways of the world. They fear these “perverts” may attempt to molest or convert their children. God forbid. Homosexuality a sin?

In Uncategorized on December 24, 2008 at 4:02 pm

I found this interesting article concerning differing views held by Christians on the issue of homosexuality. I thought you’d like to read it. Go here. After having read this article over and over and the aforementioned verses of the bible; I tend to hold to the belief that the bible is anti-gay. One must remember: These words are the words of men, not God. The bad news? Try convincing mainstream Christians their holy bible isn’t what it purports to be. There are many who will never accept our way of thinking. The proof will come in the end. I contend there will be no second coming of Christ and the end will more likely come in some sort of cataclysm which will destroy humanity and the earth.

Ignored

In Uncategorized on October 1, 2008 at 6:37 pm

October has arrived and I’ve absolutely no downloads of my latest podcast! Don’t you guys like me anymore? Fuck it . . . I’ll keep doing this even if nobody is listening. So just answer me this one question please.

Do any of you actually subscribe to my podcast or do you just download my podcasts manually? I’d like to know.

Maybe the rapture has occurred and I’ve been . . . left behind! Or maybe everyone is just tired of listening to Nick Thomas. I’d stop doing this if I could think of something constructive to do with my time. But I like talking even if I’m not as popular as John Ong or Archer. Since I’ve never been popular (in all of my life) I should be used to it or you’d think so. But it does bother me a bit and contributes to my lack of self-worth and confidence. I guess everything I say here is really meaningless. No wonder I feel alone in this world. Steve is gone. Jeremy is gone. Nothing ever works out. A person could get a complex or something if he worried about it to much. Ha ha. I think I now know why so many turn to drugs and alcohol. But I can’t do that. I’d rather just die altogether than become a pathetic loser. Thom talks about calling 911 if your feeling suicidal. I’d like to know who to call if you’d just like to be listened to? And if they’d actually hear what your saying. When Steve and I used to talk on the phone I just felt like a big ear. He’d do all the talking and by the time he’d finish I’d be so drained I’d just want to get off the phone. And if I did have anything to say I’d never get any meaningful feedback. So how did I become such a reject? I’ve always thought there must be some meaning to everyone’s life. I’m beginning to wonder if my mom made a mistake by not aborting me. So for any of you who might enjoy the pain and suffering of others I ask you not make some sly comment about how I’m feeling sorry for myself again. I already know that. Tell me something I don’t know. I am holding on by a thread. I wear my feelings on my shoulders and that is just the way it is. There is no Jesus to rescue me from all the hell I go through living on this earth. It does no good to take a sabbatical. The day I return is the day I once again enter hell. No one covers for me at work so there is no point in taking even a short vacation. Money isn’t everything. I’d give it up for a restful mind. And to know someone out there cares about me. I really do feel sometimes like someone out there is testing me. They want to see how much I can take. It’s difficult, but I somehow hold on. Why? Because its hard to give up life. No matter how difficult things become you keep going, hoping one day things will get better. But you wonder if hope is just a cruel hoax to keep you suffering. A promise that can never be kept. Hope. Hopelessness.

This is the full version (all 3 songs) performed by the Muscle Shoals High School Stage Band of 1976 in a competition in Savannah, Tennessee. The first song performed was called, “Woodchoppers ball”. I cannot recall the name of the second number. If you recognize the song please let me and the other listeners know its name. The third number is called, “TSOP” or “The sound of Philadelphia”. The band was under the direction of the late Mr. Charles M. Stratford. We won this competition. The quality of this recording is bad. It was recorded with a Magnavox Cassette recorder in Mono. You will hear two people near the mic talking from time to time during the performance. The male voice is Johnny Powell and the female voice is Denise Slusher. Watching the debate

In Uncategorized on September 27, 2008 at 7:56 am

I was anxious as I watched last nights debate between Barack Obama and John McCain. I worried that Obama might make a mistake and hoped for one from McCain. I honestly think both men scored points. Both made hardcore supporters happy. It is independent and non-committed voters I am more concerned about.

While most post-debate polling showed Obama as the victor; I am not so quick to claim victory for my man. It really does not matter what Nick Thomas thinks. I live in a solid red state. Alabama is not going to flip for Obama. So I am more concerned about swing states and swing voters who will decide this election. It is somewhat disconcerting that I have no control over their perceptions. So I sit back waiting for the latest unbiased public opinion polls (if they exist) and worry about this countries direction. Will I continue to feel like an outsider? Or will I finally feel like I am a part of this country? Bush and his cronies have been masterful in portraying anyone not in favor of the war in Iraq as less an American or just naive. I beg to differ. I hope one day to find myself in the majority. No longer a reject, but an integral part of the country I call home.

New old video posted

In Uncategorized on September 20, 2008 at 7:36 pm

I uploaded a new video to my Web gallery this evening. Go here to view the video. Its an old 8mm film my dad took of us playing in a rare snow in late 60’s Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The lady throwing snowballs and helping us kids build Mr. Snowman was Butch and Marty’s mom. Her name was Shelba S. I will never forget the time I was in Butch and Marty’s house and I accidentally saw her naked. It was not a pleasant sight and may have had a direct influence on (or at least cemented) my homosexuality. Ha! The quality of the video is not so good. I used an 8mm projector (I purchased on Ebay) to project the film on a wall while I steadied my digital video camera to capture the images. I’ve thought about sending all of these 8mm films off to a lab to have them transferred to digital. I may do that . . . someday. I also included a still black and white picture taken on the same day the film was shot. We’re all standing around Mr. Snowman. I am front right in the picture. My brother is standing behind me. My refugee (kidding) sister is left (rear) in the picture. Jay G., (the little boy in the pic) was an asshole and I hated him. Butch S. is in the center of the pic. I can still hear Jay crying and trying to bite me with those rotten teeth. I liked his younger brother Barry very much and never fought with him. Barry was close to my age and my first boy crush. I wonder to this day whatever happened to Barry Golden. Global warming has made snowfalls like the one in this video a thing of the past. It hardly ever snows like this anymore. Looking at this video and old pictures of myself makes me wonder what happened to make me the person that I have become. This picture was taken at a time in my life when I was becoming increasingly sad and sensitive, while the world around me was becoming harsh and cold. My only comfort during those early years was my mom. When I look back at these images I feel like I’m missing something. That some part of me was left behind. And I sometimes wish I could go back there.

Note: Now that I think about it, there is no way that little boy in the pic and the film is Jay G. I think the little boy must be Brian G. who is Jay and Barry’s youngest brother.

Somewhere in the mix of sounds you will hear the sound of my trumpet. I never sat 1st chair first -not even close, but I loved being in the stage band. This was (to my knowledge) the first competition of the Muscle Shoals High School Stage Band which was held in Savannah, Tennessee in 1976. The Stage Band was under the direction of Mr. Charles M. Stratford. There were six trumpets in the band at the time. Doug H., Tim M., Kevin S., Wes W., John L. and me. But I’m not saying my real name here. This was one of three songs performed at the competition. A friend in the band used my cassette recorder to record the performance. The quality is bad. But I think you can see that aside for some mixing board problems, i.e., the Tenor sax solo is way to loud, everything came together quite nicely. Solo Trumpet is Doug H. Palin’s comments on earmarks makes her nose grow

In Uncategorized on September 8, 2008 at 4:25 pm

Governor Sarah Palin likes to claim she’s a reformer, but as Governor of the state of Alaska she has racked up in the kind of pork barrel programs Senator McCain likes to rail against. Read the antidote to the Palin lies here. Obama has never denied his record. Palin just did.

According to the article: “Alaska asked this year for earmarks totaling $198 million, about $295 for every Alaska citizen. Palin has cut back on pork project requests, but under her administration, Alaska is still and by far the largest per-capita consumer of federal pet-project spending. The governor did reject plans to build the notorious “Bridge to Nowhere” after Congress had cut off its financing.”

Alaska state jet didn’t fly on eBay

From CNN Correspondent Christine Romans

Since being named as Sen. McCain’s running mate, Gov. Palin has mentioned several times that she put a government plane up for sale on EBay — including during her speech before the GOP convention.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin bolstered her fiscal-conservative credentials early in her term by putting her predecessor’s state jet up for auction online.

“That luxury jet was over the top,” she told Republican National Convention delegates when she accepted the party’s vice presidential nomination Wednesday night. “I put it on eBay.”

Since Palin was chosen as Arizona Sen. John McCain’s running mate last week, the story has become a cornerstone of the Republican effort to paint Palin as a reformer who took on her own party establishment.

“How many saw her speech a couple of nights ago? Wasn’t it fabulous?” McCain said Friday during a campaign stop in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. “You know what I enjoyed the most? She took the luxury jet that was purchased by her predecessor and sold it on eBay — and made a profit.”

But it turns out the twin-engine Westwind II was a tough sell on the Web — and the state eventually pulled it offline and sold it through an ordinary brick-and-mortar brokerage, for a loss, a spokeswoman said Friday.

“Governor Palin has been correct in saying that she put the plane on eBay,” McCain campaign spokeswoman Maria Comella told CNN. “They did end up selling it for $2.1 million. but not on eBay.”

Palin’s predecessor, Frank Murkowski, bought the jet for $2.7 million in 2005. The following year, Palin unseated Murkowski in the state’s Republican primary and became governor: Upon taking office, she wanted to unload what former aide Meg Stapleton called “a symbol of corruption.”

Stapleton told CNN that Murkowski paid too much for the jet, and that it was costing taxpayers money just sitting in the hangar.

“Eventually you had to concede and say, ‘How often are we going to pay these bills and waste more state dollars?’ ” she said.

When putting it on eBay failed, aircraft broker Rob Heckmann was called in to sell the jet. Businessman Larry Reynolds bought the five-passenger jet for sold for $2.1 million. And Reynolds is now seeking another $50,000 from the state for unexpected maintenance issues with the aircraft.

A fan-atic of “Dark Shadows” took the time to upload the movie version of the 60’s-70’s serial. Go here to watch the movie. I like to think of this film as sort of the “clift notes” of the story better told by the television series. “House of Dark Shadows” condenses the story rather well. The serial is better at filling in the gaps and drawing one closer to the characters. The film version is not as sympathetic of the main character, Barnabas Collins. If after viewing these clips you find an interest in the story of Barnabas Collins and the Collins family – I recommend you rent the original television series Dvd’s beginning with Set One.

McCain to forgetful to be president?

New lies from Conservatives about Barack Obama

In Uncategorized on August 14, 2008 at 5:23 pm

Conservatives are using all means at their disposal to trash Barack Obama. The truth does not matter to these people. They have one goal in mind. To see that Barack Obama is not elected president by manufacturing lies about him. Go here to read about a new anti-Obama book. Anyone who does not accept their political and religious ideology is considered un-American. Senator John McCain has also gone out of his way to distort Obama’s record and to question his character despite his promise to run a campaign free of negative ads. Witness his campaign’s Paris Hilton/Britney Spears smear television ad and his many ads questioning Barack’s qualifications to lead our country. What is it about being shot down and held a prisoner of war during the Vietnam war that qualifies McCain for the presidency? I’d worry about a man known for his short temper having his finger on the nuclear trigger. Do we really want this kind of man as commander-in-chief? I don’t. Remember when John McCain joked about bombing Iran? To the lyric’s of the old Beachboy’s song, “Barbara Ann”, McCain sung: “Bomb, bomb, bomb – bomb, bomb Iran”. Sometimes our jokes reveal a lot about what we really think. McCain will say and do anything to win the presidency. He has flip-flopped on the Bush tax cuts for the rich, immigration and torture. Now he says he may pick a VP who favors abortion rights! Why? Because the only principal John McCain will hold to is the principal of winning at any cost. This is the basic philosophy of Republicans. They are well on their way to destroying our civil liberties. The election of John McCain will seal the deal. This is why they are so desperate.

Alabama Attorney General Gay?

In Uncategorized on August 1, 2008 at 7:23 am

There is a persistent rumor going around concerning Alabama’s Attorney General, Troy King. Rumor has it that King’s wife caught her husband having sex with a man in their bedroom. Just another, “in the closet story”? Well, it must be noted that the Attorney General is a Republican who rails against homosexuality. I do not know if this is more than here-say. He has (after all) ruffled a few (gay) feathers in his short stint in public office. This kind of story does seem to plague the Republican party and those holier-than-thou people. I do get a sense of satisfaction when I read stories like this because I hate Republicans. Theirs is a party of self righteous God fearing people and they make me sick. I know some here will look at the Attorney general’s wife and excuse his behavior. They’ll say: “Look at her – can you blame him for going after a former Troy State homecoming king?” There is just something weird about all this. Aye? [link to rumor and picture]

Troy King was asked about the rumor by a television reporter. Read this article for his response.

Vanity Fair’s parody cover

In Uncategorized on July 22, 2008 at 5:05 pm

Funny . . . but John McCain is old and his wife, Cindy was once a pill popping/drug abuser. So is this really a parody? (click picture to make it bigger) On the other hand there is the New Yorker Magazine’s parody cover of Barack Obama and wife, Michelle? Barack is depicted as a Moslem, which he is not and Michelle as a machine gun toting terrorist, which she is not. What is fair game? I wish the media would focus on the issues, but we live in a country founded on free speech and a free press. So I guess we must take the good with the bad and hope people are smart enough to separate fact from parody.

Libsyn feed

In Uncategorized on July 10, 2008 at 5:50 pm

Hey everyone – my iTunes feed seems to be down today. Probably something to do with prep for tomorrows launch of the new iPhone and the new App Store. So for those who’d rather download from my Libsyn feed here is the url of the feed:

feed://nickthomaspodcast.libsyn.com/rss

If you use iTunes to download my podcast go to the “Advanced tab” and look for “Subscribe to podcast”. Click it and a window opens. Type in the above url and my feed will be added to iTunes. This procedure may be a little different for the Windows version of iTunes.

I’ll upload Podcast #263 “Talking down” to the .Mac feed as soon as it becomes available again. But you can get my latest podcast on Libsyn. They seem to download a bit quicker on Libsyn anyhow. Keep the cards and letters coming in. You won’t offend me if we differ in our views. That’s what makes this country the greatest country on earth. I love living in a land where we are all free to express ourselves. Maybe one day our liberties will be extended to allow for gays to marry.

UPDATE 07/12 at 7:28 AM (Central time): I managed to download and install the 2.0 software update to my iPod Touch last night after returning from the Nature trail. I’m not much of a gamer, but I think I could have a little fun with some of the games available in the new App store. Thus far I have downloaded: “Super Monkey Ball”, “MotoRacer” and ” Enigmo”. “Enigmo” is a cool game in which you use the laws of physics and gravity to manipulate water to fill jars. Each new game gets more challenging. It is way cool. I also downloaded a free utility called, “Remote” which allows you to remotely control your computers iTunes software. You can search and change tracks and control the volume.

Brother-in-law’s threat

In Uncategorized on June 8, 2008 at 6:20 pm

I was shocked today to discover a threatening voice mail message from my brother-in-law on the cell. I hadn’t listened to the messages since the incident occurred earlier in the week. I figured my sister had left messages. I know she would not have been threatening. That’s not in her character. I’d always figured Steve (her husband) was the source of the politically and religiously conservative emails, but I’d never have figured he’d leave such a hateful voice mail. My first temptation was to delete the threatening message. Then I thought it might be wiser to save the message if I need proof of the threat later. I fear this incident is going to affect me and my family’s relationship from now on. I do regret taking the drastic action I did in replying to everyone who had received the initial email from bro-in-law. But what is done is done. It would be nice to hear what advice you might have given this situation. I will attempt to record the voice mail and will include it in Tuesday’s podcast. I don’t know how to feel about this. A mixture of sadness, regret and anger. I really do not think my brother-in-law would travel here to do me harm. But it hangs over me and I do not like nor appreciate what he is doing to my relationship with my family. I feel isolated enough as it is. No one to talk to. No one to hang out with. Alone in the world. I’m so tired of all the BS I have to contend with. It isn’t just this. It’s everything. My supposed best friend Steve (another Steve) has abandoned me. So I’m beginning to wonder if I am alone in this world because I am just not a pleasant person to be around. Maybe this is why I only seem to be able to have inconsequential relations with people. One day maybe I won’t have to worry about all this anymore. Then my sister will see that I did not do all this out of hate. That I did (what I did) because I am tired of being attacked by religious fundamentalism. I am tired of being made to feel like a freak. Of being marginalized, laughed at and scorned by a large segment of society. It isn’t any wonder that so many of us just give up. But if I do that then it is they who win. I hate this world.

Yesterday I listened to John Ong’s podcast #273 entitled, “Change”. During his podcast John asks for answers to his questions about me. I attempt to answer John’s question about my goal in life. I think my listeners (or others curious about me) will find many of those answers in Podcasts #213 and #218 entitled, “My Pathetic life” and “Sadism”, respectively. Many of my podcasts contain extremely explicit material. Intermingled and woven into those podcasts you will often find clues to the person that is Nick Thomas. Bush worst President ever!

In Uncategorized on May 1, 2008 at 5:09 pm

A CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Thursday indicates that 71 percent of the American public disapprove of how Bush is handling his job as president.

“No president has ever had a higher disapproval rating in any CNN or Gallup Poll; in fact, this is the first time that any president’s disapproval rating has cracked the 70 percent mark,” said Keating Holland, CNN’s polling director.

I have been having all sorts of problems with .Mac of late. For the past week it has taken me forever and a day to upload a podcast to .Mac. I thought the problem was on my end. I had a tech from Charter Cable investigate the issue only to discover my upload and download speeds are fine. Next I surfed over to the .Mac support pages and found a great many .Mac customers having the same issue. Therefore, I have decided to add a second feed hosted through Libsyn. If you wish you may use this feed exclusively. You may get better results there. You can get to my Libsyn page by going to this Web address:

Craigslist post

In Uncategorized on April 10, 2008 at 4:40 am

The following post appears in today’s Alabama Men for men:

“Dear God.
Help me find out what is causing the temptations to be with men.
Take me as I am,I give my all to you. Wash me and save me. Thank You, Now I have peace.
In Jesus Name , AMEN”

Hey man, Nick Thomas talked to God and God says the reason you have temptations to be with men is because “You’re Gay” for God’s sake. Don’t worry about it. Seriously, its sad that we live in a time when ppl are struggling with their sexuality. In the animal kingdom homosexuality is no big deal. And long term relationships (while they do exist) aren’t the rule. Thus, it isn’t uncommon to find animals with multiple sex partners. So I guess it could be said that we’re acting like animals if we are following our natural instincts. In an effort to control those animal instincts man tried to reinvent himself. Thus the creation of a God. So what is a God without rules to live by? Thus the creation of God’s laws. All of this was an effort to control you. What better way to control the natural instincts of man than to create a supreme being, with supreme laws and an eternal judgment if those laws are transgressed. So maybe you first heard about burning in hell from your mother or your dad or the preacher at your local church. So is all of this really God’s law? Or man’s? The burden is left on your shoulders to decide. Get it wrong and nothing may happen in the end. Get it right and you can have a Gay Ole Time.

Hate

In Uncategorized on February 25, 2008 at 2:17 pm

Fifteen year old Lawrence King was not a typical teen boy. Lawrence was openly gay and according to classmates in Oxnard, California, he sometimes wore makeup, high heels and other feminine attire to school. He would come to school wearing makeup and high heels, according to a male classmate. Another classmate said Lawrence’s appearance was “freaking the guys out”.

One recent morning Lawrence was shot in the head during a class in his school’s computer lab. Lawrence was raced to a local hospital where he was declared “brain dead”. The fourteen year old boy who shot Lawrence is being charged as an adult and will likely face hate crimes charges. The question? Why do things like this happen? The answer?

Perhaps Lawrence’s foster parents did not consider his behavior to be a threat to others. During these early years of adolescence young boys are taught what is acceptable male behavior. What is acceptable in one family may be seen as shameful and unacceptable in another.

Lawrence’s attacker was allegedly the subject of Lawrence’s adoration. A recipe for a tragic outcome. One boy taught from an early age that a boy should like girls. Another sit free to discover his own feelings.

I can remember as a boy the shame of being gay. I hid that fact from all around me as best I could. In some ways I have to admire Lawrence for not bowing to shame. It would be nice to think that we live in a world where we all can feel free to openly acknowledge our gayness. Lawrence did and he paid the ultimate price. This is not the way it is supposed to be. But it is the way of this world. Gays challenge the definition of what it means to be male. And that challenge frightens many who look upon male homosexuality as a weakness.

Is it any wonder why there is such fear of male homosexuality in this world? When the majority are of the opinion that homosexuality goes against the natural laws of God. Is it any wonder that Lawrence’s attacker looked upon Lawrence with hate? A hate bred into him by an intolerant world of ignorant people. A hate that made it easy to put a gun to Lawrence’s head and pull the trigger. Lawrence’s young short life is over. There are other young men out there like Lawrence who just want to be free to be themselves. How many more will die before we learn to respect the precious nature of life?

201 Running on empty

In Uncategorized on February 12, 2008 at 1:27 am

As I’m sitting here this Monday night once again I wonder if the pain in my left arm is the result of the torn ligament in my shoulder or a forewarning of a diseased heart. As I down two more aspirin I wonder. Why do I bother? Could it be that despite my sad pathetic existence and my reluctant participation in this life that I continue to have hope? Why do I delude myself into believing in better days? My life would be totally empty were it not for you. Those few people who listen to me here. Who have become like a partner in marriage – for better or for worse. I feel as if I am running on empty. That each new day is harder than the last. I worry about one solitary person on this earth who has affected me more than any other. But I feel helpless to help him. I don’t care about myself. I don’t know if I ever did. Perhaps that is why I am at this point in my life. An empty person who only exists because I know nothing else. If this is all there is to life then why was I brought here? If there really was a God surely he’d find it in his heart to show mercy and let me go. Instead he continues to complicate my life and force me to continue on and on and on. I am tired. I want to rest. My mind and my body aches. This isn’t the way it was supposed to be. Total running time: 24 minutes 24 seconds (Stereo) MP3. Hello world! It’s 8:29 P.M. and the weekend is approaching fast. Much more fall like out this evening. I love this time of the year. I plan on posting a PODcast tomorrow afternoon or evening. Provided this sharp pain I just experienced running through my head isn’t a sign of impending doom. So if I disappear perhaps you should notify the authorities. Aye? N e way, I got an email from .Mac this afternoon. Seems they want to do some trouble shooting on my end and go from there. If this is an issue of content or copywrite I’d figure .Mac would have said so in the email. Apparently from the email this issue is affecting other people. So if I make it through the night I’ll talk a bit more about .Mac and my other headaches. Also want to talk a bit about . . . okay I just had another pain on my left side . . . I hate to be a pussy but I recall my dad’s first heart attack. I really would hate to be just a hypochondriac and there be nothing wrong with me. I’ll play it be ear. Sorry to be so honest here about how I’m feeling. But that’s what Nick Thomas has always been about from day one. Trying to offer my listeners my truth. Be good. Know that I love you all. Good night.

A human trapped in a cat’s body!

In Uncategorized on October 3, 2007 at 6:19 am

This morning when I woke I recalled a dream I had during the night. It was a weird dream and I’ve yet to decode its meaning. Here is the brief dream sequence: I am standing in a room. My cat is at my feet. Kitty is in an excited state and attempts to climb my pant’s leg. Unfortunately, kitty has been de-clawed so she/he cannot climb my leg. Kitty keeps trying in desperation to reach me, face to face, if you will. Somehow kitty stretches his/her body 6 feet 1 inch from the floor such that her cute kitty face is next to mine. She is licking me frantically as if to tell me something. I sense (in the dream) kitty is telling me that she understands. (Dream sequence ends)

1st weird thing: I don’t own a cat or a kitty.

2nd weird thing: Why is kitty licking my face? Seems sort of nasty to me. But I guess its better than being clawed. Oh yeah, I forgot . . . kitty was de-clawed.

3rd weird thing: I seem to remember this toy. Vintage by now. But a toy of a human which could be stretched to ungodly lengths. I think the toy man was called, “Stretch” something or ‘nother? But a kitty cat can’t stretch like a toy. Oh yeah, I forgot . . . this was only a dream.

Okay guys your turn. Am I just loosing my mind or what?
